Hi there, I’m Mel – a designer and marketer based in Christchurch, New Zealand. I focus on combining practical thinking with attention to detail to solve problems, develop clear brands, and support digital marketing. I care about the work, the people I work with, and getting the best outcomes for clients.
My career officially kicked off at Board of Design, where I learnt quickly about the design industry while co-running a small creative studio in the heart of the city.
At the same time, I launched Black Swan Designs, a side-line indie craft business (think laser cutting before it was cool) as an outlet for my love of making.
After the Christchurch earthquakes, it was time for a change, and I moved on to The New Zealand Merino Company where I worked as part of a small in-house creative team of three.
I went on to work for global infrastructure consulting firm AECOM. As Senior Creative & Brand Advisor, I led the New Zealand design function, providing support nationwide on campaigns, thought leadership and bids, as well as supporting Australian and global initiatives.
Currently, I support New Zealand Hearing, a small group of independent audiology clinics, with all things “marketing” across digital, print, radio and outreach.
