Hi there, I’m Mel, a committed and confident designer with big picture thinking and an eye for detail based in Christchurch | Ōtautahi. I’m passionate about the work I do, the people I work with, and have a strong drive to achieve best-outcomes for clients.
My career officially kicked-off at Board of Design where I learnt quickly about the design industry while co-running a small creative studio in the heart of the city.
At the same time I launched Black Swan Designs, a side-line indie craft business (think laser cutting before it was cool) as an outlet for my love of making.
After the Christchurch earthquakes it was time for a change, and I moved on to The New Zealand Merino Company where I worked as part of a small in-house creative team of three.
Most recently I worked for global infrastructure consulting firm AECOM. As Senior Creative & Brand Advisor I led the New Zealand design function, providing support nationwide on campaigns, thought leadership and bids, as well supporting Australian and global initiatives, including the award winning 2021 global brand refresh.
